Week 13 – Ugly Produce and Kasey Kahne Day

Do you grow your own veggies and fruit at home? We have just the contest for you! Bring one home-grown ugly produce to display at market and see how ugly yours are compared to other market patrons!

And of course a we have a vendor category. Let’s see just how ugly some of our own vendors’ items are this week.

Don’t forget to stop by the Market Information Tent to pick up tickets for the 2nd Annual Pig Raffle. Support the market and you might just win and fill your freezer with delicious L & B Mini Ranch pork this winter.

And hey, did you know that September 5 has been Kasey Kahne Day in Enumclaw since 2005? And of course our market is on Kasey Kahne Drive/First Street.

Come to market this week in your favorite KK gear. Let’s celebrate everything KK! Hometown kid that made it big in racing and NASCAR. KK will not be in attendance.

Week 12 – End of August and FISH!

We are proud to announce the we have a truly local fish monger at market this week! Fritz’s True Caught Seafoods is an Enumclaw-owned business that has just returned from the Bristol Bay fishery with some pretty darn gorgeous fish! We are very proud to have them participate for the rest of the season. Show them some marine cuisine love and pick up your sockeye salmon, halibut and sablefish. Fritz only participates in Des Moines Waterfront Farmers Market and our market in 2019. This truly is a major catch for Enumclaw!

We are closing out August with some really great produce from our regular vendors and they are also transitioning to some fall favorites including delicata squash, fall brassicas, root veggies, etc. But this warm weather still means lots of tomatoes and peppers!

Stock up for your Labor Day barbeque with meat, fish and veggies, as well as other tasty treats!

Oh, and we have also launched our annual Pig Raffle Fundraiser! Stop by the Market Information Tent and pick up your tickets to win a whole pig. Tickets are $5 per ticket or 5 tickets for $20.

And we will be announcing the details about Edible Enumclaw (where the Pig Raffle winning ticket is drawn) very soon!

Vendor Profile: Hell or High Water Farm

What started as tending a “garden” in abandoned planters to the light of tiki torches after work in their Lower Queen Anne apartment building, has led Kevin and Desirée Helfrick of Hell or High Water Farm to Enumclaw.

After successfully tackling their own urban homesteading, they realized this life was more than just a hobby, it was their destiny. So, Kevin became a participant in the Tilth Alliance Organic Farming Education Program, which officially launched their farming business in Auburn in 2015. They started their CSA with pasture raised eggs in 2016 and have continued to expand their farm offerings each year.

Kevin and Desirée lease acreage from “Cart before Horse” Farm and now have plenty of room to grow flowers, vegetables, berries and tend to their flock of more than 250 free range chickens. They are excited to be part of the Enumclaw Plateau Farmers’ Market since this will be their first engagement as a farm in this community. Having served urban markets and CSA customers in other areas for several years, they are excited to now offer vegetables, eggs, berries and cut flowers to the Plateau.

They were recently featured in the Courier Herald – read it here.
